
Jesus died on the cross, rose from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and then sent His Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. He did all of this so that sinners could be saved and enter Heaven! Without Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, we would never receive any forgiveness for the bad things we do in our lives. Imagine having to carry around all of your sins from your whole life with you every single day? We would have no hope at all without Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice of Himself.
Jesus had the power to forgive sins. But He gave this power to His Apostles, too! He wanted to be sure that once He was gone that sins would continue to be removed from our souls.
